Why do we need Traffic Laws?
Driving on road is a pretty risky thing as it involves many people and factors that can cause trouble or issue. Even if someone is a very expert driver, one has no control over the driving skills of other driving on the same road. This risk can sometimes be so grave that it can result in terrible accidents.
To avoid such unwelcome events to occur each state government in US has come up with certain traffic laws. These laws are designed in such a way that if adhered to can reduce the odds of uneventful happenings manifolds. State governments are responsible to come up with the set of laws customized to the specific needs of their respective states. These laws obligates the motor vehicle drivers to adhere to a set of actions that ensures that either the accident sort of event is completely eliminated or if that is not possible then at least reduce the impact of any such event.
These traffic laws are sometimes referred to as traffic rules, traffic regulations and many such words. These laws have, over time, shaped many traffic ideas and rules. One obvious example is the use of traffic signals on crossings to minimize the risk of collision of vehicles.
Traffic Laws for Educating Drivers
The first encounter one can have with the traffic laws is at the point of getting drivers license. The applicants are required to demonstrate their knowledge of the traffic laws, rules and regulations. This is done to ensure that the people who will drive motor vehicles on public roads and highways are well aware of what they should follow.
Another part of traffic law tests during this process is about the application of these traffic laws by the applicants during a road test. In this test they are checked what did they do in many test driving conditions, and to what extent do they adhere to traffic laws.
Traffic Laws for Motor Vehicles
All the motor vehicles are also subject to the traffic laws as a spate but comprehensive section of traffic laws addresses the motor vehicles, their required features and similar things. During the motor vehicle registration process the safety features of the vehicle like effectiveness of brakes, seat belts for the driver and all other passengers, quality of wheels are checked against a pre defined set of values for these things stated in laws.
Another test that is carried out in this process is about the adherence of motor vehicle performance with the environmental laws which are closely related to traffic laws. In this part the exhaust gases coming out of the motor vehicle emissions are monitored. The laws dictate the acceptable levels of all gases (harmful and harmless) from the exhaust. These values are compared against the actual monitored values to ensure that the vehicle under test is imparting minimum danger to the environment.
Traffic Laws during Driving
Every driver is expected to follow the traffic laws, rules and regulations whenever they are driving any vehicle on the road. Any violation can have severe consequences in which people besides the driver can be impacted; therefore, states are very vigilant to ensure that people are driving according to the acceptable way.
Over speeding, breaking traffic signals, not obeying traffic signs are some of the offenses on which the drivers get warnings and fines. With the in the severity of this traffic violation increases the penalty that can result in cancelation of the license and arrest on criminal charges. A significant offense while driving is driving under influence (when the driver has more than acceptable count of alcohol in breath and blood) which is a considered a severe violation and criminal offense in many states.
Adhering to the traffic laws whenever on roads is a very effective way to ensure safety of yourself and of others. It is responsibility of every responsible human being.
